About the role: (12 months Parental Leave) Do you enjoy taking ownership, pushing things forward and learning as you go-holding yourself to a high standard while staying open to feedback? This is a role where you'll step into a fast-moving, newsroom-style environment, build your capability quickly and play a visible role in shaping how Domain shows up across Australia's media landscape. You'll be leading the planning and delivery of Residential and Consumer PR, playing a key role in positioning Domain as a trusted voice on property and housing issues. Working at the center of a fast-moving, newsroom-style communications function, you will turn property data, consumer insights and brand priorities into compelling earned media opportunities. You'll partner closely with Research & Economics, Content, Product and Agent Marketing to ensure Domain's stories are timely, relevant and hit the mark with media. A core part of the role is building strong media relationships across consumer, lifestyle and property coverage-identifying opportunities for ongoing segments, partnerships and repeat media engagement. You will also play a key role in coordinating how and when stories come to market This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is as comfortable generating story ideas as they are executing media outreach bringing energy, pace and judgement to a highly visible part of the brand. You'll work on high-profile property stories, national media moments and data-led insights that shape the public conversation-giving you exposure and experience that accelerates your career What does success look like? Domain is consistently visible in consumer and property media, with strong share of voice driven by proactive, insight-led coverage A steady pipeline of newsworthy stories is generated from property data, consumer behaviour and product activity-ensuring Domain leads, not follows, the news agenda Strong, trusted relationships are established with key journalists, resulting in repeat engagement, regular segments and partnership opportunities Property reports, insights and brand messaging are consistently translated into clear, compelling media narratives Seamless coordination between Marketing, Content, Social and Research ensures stories land at the right time, through the right channels, with maximum reach Media coverage reinforces Domain's position as a credible, trusted authority on the property market and consumer housing issues Media materials are easy to use, visually engaging and tailored to different formats-supporting stronger pickup across broadcast, digital and social channels Property data and insights are translated into multiple content formats (e.g. key charts, grabs, explainer angles), enabling faster and broader media coverage AI and new tools are used effectively to improve speed, efficiency and quality of outputs without compromising accuracy or judgement Value a team environment, building relationships across the business to give you context, fresh ideas and different perspectives on your work Fearless responsibility of your work - this means rolling up your sleeves to nail key messages, write, pitch and liaise with the media and own the outcomes Experience and Skills Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in journalism, public relations or communications and advocacy Degree qualified Deep understanding of the modern media landscape and strong news judgment. Established relationships with media, preferably reporters covering housing, real estate, consumer across networks and formats Proven success in creative pitching and securing earned media coverage. Experience working directly on messaging, interviews, quotes, and presentations. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Comfortable using AI tools and modern content workflows to support media engagement, content creation and scaling output Strong instinct for how stories translate across different media formats, including broadcast, digital and social Ability to package insights into media-ready assets (e.g. clear data points, visuals, talking points, pre-prepared angles) that make it easy for journalists to cover Understanding of how to optimise content for different audiences and platforms, not just traditional media outreach Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into compelling narratives. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with major social media platforms including LinkedIn Preferred experience with Meltwater media monitoring Preferable experience focused on residential real estate, housing, rentals, or consumer marketplaces.
