Maintenance Officer
The Opportunity
Located just minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, Taringa Parkside Retirement Living is a welcoming community known for its beautiful grounds and strong sense of connection. As a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community ensuring homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.
This is a permanent part-time position working Monday & Tuesday 8am-3:30pm; Wednesday 8am-3pm and Thursday 8am-3:30pm
Your Impact
- Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements
- Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers
- Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems
- Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
- Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
- Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
- Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
- Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)
What you'll bring
- Experience in a general maintenance or tradebased role, including handson handyperson tasks
- A proactive, solutionsfocused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
- An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a residentfriendly way
- A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
- A valid driver’s licence (essential)
- Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
