Vice President - Energy
We are looking for an experienced Vice President (equivalent Associate Director) to join our Energy team within Energy, Mining & Industries. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and market-leading team within a fast-paced, results focused, global organisation with strong growth ambitions for the Australian and New Zealand business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing structured finance transactions in the energy sector in the Australian and New Zealand market and will have the opportunity to build close relationships with the teams onshore and within the organisation more broadly on a regional and global basis.
The Energy team, based in Sydney, is responsible for the origination and implementation of structured and project finance for clients and large projects, primarily in the energy sector but with broader business development across Industries spectrum.
The Vice President will focus on:
- Contributing to the effective and responsible execution of structured lending and advisory mandates for the Energy team, including day to day management and/or execution support of key mandates and activities. This may include taking the deal team leader role, lead support role, or lead modelling role on execution of credit related transactions under the supervision of a Director and similarly support in the the execution of advisory transactions
- Respecting all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements in relation to the execution of advisory & lending transactions
- Assisting the deal team leader to provide best-in-class lending and advisory services to clients
- Contributing to the development of the Energy team's client base in line with company strategy and priorities
- Assisting or representing the business line in internal dialogues when requested
- Building industry, client and peer contacts in the Australian and New Zealand market to develop a personal network within the local market
- Supervision / development of junior team members including appropriate delegation and review of certain tasks suitable to the skills and experience of those junior team members whilst maintaining a high quality of overall team execution
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required
- Relevant Bachelor's degree in and/or a professional financial qualification
- Post graduate qualifications considered favourably
- Demonstrated experience in structured finance, project finance and/or advisory roles, supporting the execution of complex transactions within energy sector. This opportunity could suit an Associate Director/Vice President with appropriate project finance experience and looking to leverage their expertise in an international banking environment.
- Ability to execute transactions that have been originated by the team, including managing junior team, all relevant internal and external stakeholders, preparing credit papers with the assistance of junior staff and presenting to credit committees
- Capacity to build financial models and complete complex modelling tasks and coach juniors staff the same, drawing on prior experience in financial modelling. Supervise and manage other staff members engaged on financial modelling tasks, assisting with the development of this skill in the wider team
- Understanding of the loan, export credit agency and bond markets, their dynamics and the related instruments, including credit and rates derivatives to propose relevant financing solutions
- Capacity to generate pitch material that is clear, well structured, compelling, and comprehensive in addressing clients' needs
- Capacity to understand, analyse and where appropriate manage risks (credit, conduct, reputational, financial, etc.) for the business line and the organisation and act responsibly in line with SG Group Values, Code of Conduct, and other applicable rules & regulations
- Strong appreciation and knowledge of the energy market in Australia and New Zealand, including structure and regulation of the sector, key players, government institutions and available programs to support the energy transition
