Hourly Research Assistant (Translational & Bench Research)

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will support Dr. Seung Lee's laboratory by contributing to translational and bench-based research projects, as well as product innovation and continued development efforts. This position is ideal for an individual seeking hands-on experience across the full research continuum-from basic science experimentation to applied product development and innovation. The Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Lee and other lab members to advance ongoing studies, generate high-quality data, and support the translation of discoveries toward practical applications.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in biology, biomedical sciences, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Prior laboratory experience (academic, clinical, or industry).
• Ability to follow detailed protocols and work independently with appropriate supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with translational research or applied biomedical projects.
• Familiarity with product development, prototyping, or innovation-focused research.
• Experience with data analysis tools, imaging software, or basic statistical methods.
• Interest in commercialization, medical devices, therapeutics, or diagnostics.

Salary Range: 17.00/Hour

FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
