Head of Product (Parental Leave Cover)

Sheet Society
BRUNSWICK,Victoria,Australia,3056 Full Time
Reference: 135_482587_150

About the Role:

If you've ever dreamed of making your mark on a fast-growing brand, this might be your perfect fit.

We're offering a rare, 12-month parental leave cover for a seasoned Head of Product to step in, get comfortable, and make a real impact. Think of it as a short-term stay with long-term influence - the kind where you don't just keep the bed warm, you add your own style to it.

As Head of Product, you'll lead the strategy, development, production and delivery of physical products across both Sheet Society and Resting. You'll partner closely with our Creative Director to turn big, beautiful ideas into commercially successful, brand-led ranges that customers can't wait to sink into.

This role calls for someone who's equally at ease dreaming up the next season's hero product as they are keeping a close eye on what's performing right now. You'll need to balance creative vision with sharp commercial instincts - switching between future planning and in-market priorities without losing sleep (or at least knowing when to rest and reset).

You'll be the driving force behind product excellence, helping position Sheet Society as a category leader through innovation, quality and unmistakable brand execution. In short: you'll help us stay ahead of the curve, and keep our customers sleeping soundly.

About the Team:

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be a key member of the leadership team - setting the tone, pace and standard for Product across the business.

You'll lead a talented, cross-functional team spanning design, development and production, creating an environment where people can do their best work. Through clear direction, mentorship and meaningful development, you'll help your team stay energised, engaged and ready to deliver.

You'll also collaborate closely with:

  • Creative Director - translating creative vision into product, ensuring every range feels cohesive and on-brand
  • Marketing (Brand & Creative) - aligning product strategy with campaigns and storytelling that customers can really connect with
  • Merchandising & Finance - driving smart commercial planning, hitting margin targets and making wise investment decisions
  • Operations & Warehouse - ensuring smooth, on-time delivery and keeping everything running like a well-made bed
  • External Suppliers - maintaining strong, trusted partnerships that support innovation, quality and long-term success

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading end-to-end product strategy, from concept through to delivery - no loose threads here
  • Building ranges that are as commercially strong as they are beautifully designed
  • Owning the full product lifecycle and ensuring every detail is buttoned up
  • Balancing creative thinking with data-led decisions to drive growth and innovation

About You:

  • 10+ years in buying, category management, and/or product management within fashion, lifestyle or similar category, with strong design and development experience in a D2C retail environment
  • A strong track record of building commercially successful, brand-led product ranges
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to zoom out and dive deep - equally comfortable in vision and execution
  • Highly developed commercial acumen, with experience managing margins, pricing and product performance
  • A customer-first mindset, using insights and data to inform decisions
  • Strong creative instinct, with the ability to translate vision into product customers love
  • Deep understanding of sourcing, production and management of global supply chains
  • Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Confident cross-functional leader, able to influence and align stakeholders at all levels
  • Highly organised, adaptable and comfortable managing multiple priorities (without losing sleep over it)
  • Experience using WGSN for trend forecasting and product direction
  • Strong capability in Figma for presentations, and Adobe Illustrator for CAD development and range creation
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience with Cin7 or similar product and inventory management tool
  • Comfortable using Slack and Asana to support team communication and workflow
