We are looking for a talented Mechanical Technician to join our highly skilled team in our team in Wetherill Park.

This could be a great opportunity for a light motor vehicle mechanic to make the transition into the heavy diesel sector, or for a heavy diesel technician to enhance their skill set.

In this role, you will specialize in rebuilding engines (rail & trains) a world-class facility! Enjoy the benefit of working with state-of-the-art ergonomic equipment and tooling that provides an efficient and safe environment.

This role would start in the day shift (6.24am to 2.30pm)

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Remanufacture the highest quality, High Horsepower Diesel Engines for our rail customers

  • Work as part of a highly skilled team to deliver 'As New' reconditioned engines using high-tech equipment

  • Be supported by a state-of-the-art 'Electronic Process Documentation System.'

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and report any issues/incidents to the Production Manager

  • Complete required documentation, such as Safety Check Sheets, Process Quality Checks, Daily Time Sheets

  • Build on your career with our Cummins World Class engine training at our dedicated training facility

  • repair and rebuild a variety of engines for a major rail fleet, both traction and auxiliary
  • work independently or with other technicians or trades assistants
  • use a variety of manual handling and lifting equipment including overhead cranes and forklifts

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Relevant Heavy Diesel trade qualification - Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Plant Mechanic or Diesel Fitter (to Australian standards), Light Vehicle will be considered

  • Experienceas a Diesel Mechanic in the service and maintenance of heavy diesel products

  • Previous workshop exposure would be highly regarded

  • Solid diagnostic, electronic and IT capabilities

  • Valid Australian Driver's license required
