Senior DevEx Engineer - Infrastructure
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevEx Engineer - Infrastructure based in Australia.
This role sits at the heart of the engineering organization, responsible for designing and evolving the internal platform that enables every team to build, test, and ship software reliably and efficiently. You will own the end-to-end developer experience infrastructure, including CI/CD systems, deployment workflows, and self-service tooling that power product delivery at scale. Beyond traditional infrastructure responsibilities, you will play a key role in shaping how engineers collaborate with emerging AI coding agents and automated workflows. You will define and build systems that improve developer productivity, reduce friction, and create a seamless path from code to production. Working in a remote-first, highly autonomous environment, you will take full operational ownership of what you build, including production reliability. This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly influence engineering velocity, scalability, and the future of software development practices.
Accountabilities:
You will own and evolve the internal developer platform, ensuring engineers can build and ship software efficiently, safely, and at scale. This includes designing infrastructure systems, improving delivery workflows, and building the foundations for AI-augmented engineering practices.
- Own and operate the internal developer platform, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment systems, and ephemeral environments
- Design and improve deployment strategies such as canary and blue/green releases
- Build and define the human-AI development loop, enabling safe and efficient use of coding agents
- Instrument and improve developer productivity using measurable frameworks (DORA, SPACE, etc.)
- Take operational ownership of production systems, including participation in on-call rotations
- Develop "paved road" tooling to reduce boilerplate and standardize service creation
- Improve internal APIs, frameworks, and tooling to enhance engineering ergonomics
- Collaborate across engineering teams to define best practices for building and shipping software
- Work transparently in a fully distributed, async-first environment
Requirements:
You should bring strong infrastructure engineering experience with deep expertise in cloud environments, CI/CD systems, and scalable platform design. A solid software engineering background and comfort with operational ownership are essential, along with the ability to reason about developer experience and productivity.
- Strong experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, GCP also considered)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred; also Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)
- Deep understanding of CI/CD systems, deployment pipelines, and release workflows
- Proven ability to measure and improve software delivery performance (DORA, SPACE, etc.)
- Experience owning production systems and participating in on-call rotations
- Strong software engineering background beyond pure infrastructure work
- Ability to design developer-friendly systems and tooling
- Excellent async communication skills in remote, distributed teams
- Nice to have: experience with AI/agent-based tooling, MCP servers, or fintech/payments systems
Benefits:
- Fully remote, globally distributed work environment
- Competitive equity / share options
- Minimum 25 days of uncapped holiday allowance
- Co-working space access worldwide
- Regular workations and annual company retreats
- High-quality equipment provided for your role
- Home office setup budget
- Generous learning and development budget
- Private medical insurance
- Additional location-dependent perks and benefits
