Principal Consultant, Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials
Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
Lead and manage hazardous materials assessments, including asbestos, lead, PCBs, and other regulated substances, from initial survey through to remediation and clearance
Provide occupational hygiene advice, including exposure assessment, risk management, and the development of control strategies for chemical, biological, and physical hazards in workplaces
Oversee the development and implementation of hazardous materials management plans and occupational hygiene monitoring programs
Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards
Prepare high-quality technical reports, risk assessments, and client communications in a timely manner
Mentor and provide technical guidance to consultants and junior staff, supporting their professional development and knowledge sharing
Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to tender submissions
Stay current with industry developments, emerging hazards, and technology trends relevant to hazardous materials and occupational hygiene

- Experienced hazardous materials and occupational hygiene consultant with over 8 years of expertise delivering assessments, risk evaluations, and remediation solutions across industrial and commercial environments
- Strong knowledge of Australian and state-based regulations, codes of practice, and safety standards
- Proven track record managing complex projects from initial survey through to final reporting
- Consistently produces high-quality, technically accurate reports while meeting client expectations and deadlines
- Conducts hazardous materials surveys, risk assessments, and remediation projects with a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Skilled at interpreting technical data and providing clear, actionable recommendations to clients
- Ensures full compliance with WHS Regulations, Codes of Practice, and relevant Australian standards
- Successfully manages multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining quality and timeliness
- Demonstrates strong leadership and mentoring capability, supporting junior staff and team development
- Excellent communication skills with ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
- Holds or working toward professional certifications such as AIOH membership, Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH), or Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA)
- Holds a valid Australian driver's licence and is willing to travel regularly to client sites
