Senior Structural Engineer - Work on Australia's biggest transmission projects

Join a booming pipeline of $bn energy projects

We've got a seriously strong pipeline of transmission line projects - and it's only getting bigger.

Right now, we're delivering and bidding on 9 major projects, including nationally significant programs to include HumeLink West, Gippsland and New England REZ, with more coming through. These are complex, multi-year projects that will help shape Australia's energy future.

Because of that growth, we're building out our Transmission Lines structural team in North Sydney and bringing more capability in-house, giving you the chance to work on big, meaningful projects.

You'll join a close-knit, highly experienced team led by a Principal Engineer with 20 years in the industry, and even he'll tell you he's never seen this volume of major projects land at once.

Why this role

  • Work on some of the largest transmission projects in Australia, happening right now.

  • Be part of a rapidly growing team building in-house design capability.

  • Get exposure to both design and construction-phase engineering.

  • Strong pipeline = long-term stability and varied work for years ahead.

  • Learn from and work alongside highly experienced engineers in a collaborative team.

  • Real opportunity to step up, take ownership, and influence design outcomes.

About the role

This is a hands-on senior role where you'll take the lead on structural design for transmission line infrastructure, while also staying close to the detail. You'll be involved across the full lifecycle, from tender input and early design, through to detailed engineering and construction support.

A big part of the role is bridging the gap between design and reality, reviewing site conditions, refining designs, and making sure what's delivered is practical, efficient and buildable. You'll also play a key role within the team, reviewing work, mentoring others, and helping lift overall capability as the group grows.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead structural design for transmission line towers, poles and foundations, delivering practical, buildable solutions.

  • Perform detailed calculations and refine designs based on site conditions and construction requirements.

  • Contribute to tenders and early-stage design while supporting projects through construction and commissioning.

  • Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, suppliers and other specialists to ensure strong technical outcomes.

  • Act as Designer, Checker or Discipline Lead, while mentoring and supporting junior engineers.

What we offer

  • Participate in our Wellness Program with AIA Vitality.
  • Access our OneRewards Discount Program.
  • Benefit from 16 weeks of paid primary parental leave.
  • Complimentary salary continuance insurance.
  • Discounted Medibank health insurance.
  • Shape your career with an Individual Development Plan.

About you

You're an intermediate, senior or principal structural engineer who enjoys getting into the detail, solving real engineering challenges, and being part of a team that's building something meaningful.

  • Relevant engineering degree with CPEng (or on the pathway).

  • Strong experience in transmission line structural design (towers, poles, foundations).

  • Solid understanding of geotechnical and foundation design principles.

  • Experience across design and/or construction phases, ideally in large infrastructure projects.

  • Practical, collaborative mindset with familiarity in tools like PLS CADD, PLS Tower or PLS Pole.
