Cost Manager
Location:Sydney - Hybrid (2 days WFH if preferred)
Employment Type:Full-Time
Salary:$90,000 - $110,000 plus Superannuation
This is a strong opportunity for a Cost Manager to build their commercial capability while working across complex construction and property projects in Sydney.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with clients and project teams, preparing clear cost advice, managing commercial processes, and supporting project delivery from early cost planning through to final account.
About the Role
As Cost Manager, the successful candidate will work across both pre-contract and post-contract cost management, supporting clients with accurate cost planning, tender analysis, contract administration and financial reporting.
They will play a key role in helping clients make informed commercial decisions by preparing estimates, cost plans, valuations, change assessments and final account documentation. The role will also involve resolving contract and commercial issues, supporting the management of claims, and maintaining clear communication across all project stakeholders.
This is a hands-on cost management role suited to someone who is organised, commercially aware and confident working across multiple priorities in a client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing estimates, cost plans and cost reports for key client projects
Supporting pre-contract cost planning and tender processes
Reviewing tender documentation, analysis and reporting
Managing valuations, variations and change order assessments
Assisting with final accounts, including claims and loss and expense matters
Supporting the resolution of commercial, contractual and project cost issues
Monitoring project spend and communicating financial updates clearly
Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams
Providing timely cost documentation to support clear project decisions
Helping ensure clients receive strong commercial value across project delivery
What the Successful Candidate Will Bring
Experience in cost management, quantity surveying or a related construction discipline
Exposure to both pre-contract and post-contract cost management
Strong estimating, cost planning and financial reporting skills
Understanding of contracts, variations, claims and final accounts
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage priorities and deadlines across multiple projects
Strong attention to detail and commercial judgement
Relevant degree or comparable industry experience
Willingness to travel occasionally for client, project or team meetings
