Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) & Command and Control (C2) Subject Matter Expert


PLEXSYS Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Defence professionals to support the delivery and growth of advanced operational training, mission rehearsal, and command and control capabilities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

This opportunity is suited to individuals with recent operational or technical experience in Air Battle Management, Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD), Airborne Command and Control, or broader Command and Control (C2) environments who are passionate about helping Defence organisations prepare for real-world operations.

Working alongside Defence customers, industry partners, and operational users, successful candidates will help ensure synthetic training environments accurately reflect modern operational requirements and contribute directly to enhancing operational readiness.

The Role

As an IAMD & C2 Subject Matter Expert, you will support the integration of operational systems and advanced synthetic training environments, helping customers train as they fight.

You will work across a range of activities including:

  • Supporting Australian Defence Force Command and Control training and capability development activities.
  • Assisting with the integration of synthetic environments with operational C2 and mission systems.
  • Developing and delivering realistic Integrated Air and Missile Defence and long-range kill chain training scenarios.
  • Supporting mission rehearsal, operational work-up, and distributed training activities.
  • Participating in Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) exercises and demonstrations.
  • Providing operational insight to engineering and software development teams.
  • Engaging with Defence stakeholders to identify capability gaps and improve training outcomes.
  • Delivering customer demonstrations, workshops, technical briefings, and operational support.

We Are Looking For

Individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Air Battle Management
  • Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) Operations
  • Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD)
  • Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C)
  • Joint and Coalition Command and Control
  • Long-Range Fires and Kill Chain Operations
  • Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
  • Tactical Data Links and Networked Operations
  • Mission Rehearsal and Operational Readiness
  • Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) Training Environments

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of operational C2 environments.
  • Experience operating or supporting Australian Defence Force C2 systems in all domains
  • Familiarity with Link 16, tactical datalinks, and sensor-to-shooter workflows.
  • Experience working within Defence capability, training, or operational programs.
  • Ability to engage effectively with Defence customers, operators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Australian citizenship with the ability to maintain a Defence security clearance.

Highly Desirable

  • Previous operational military service.
  • Experience with integrated air defence systems.
  • Knowledge of Australian Defence distributed training systems and exercise environments.
  • Experience with mission rehearsal, operational work-up, or readiness activities.
  • Experience with simulation and synthetic training systems, including ASCOT 7 or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of multi-domain operations, and coalition interoperability.
