Project Overview:
Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities.The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.
Job Summary:
Position is for timekeeping function activities carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures, located at a construction jobsite. Candidate selected will be responsible for verification of daily attendance, review and verification of daily time records. Reviews discrepancies between daily timesheet hours and badge scanning reports. Ensures absentees are properly coded, and hours maintained in accordance with governing labor agreements. Verify time payouts to terminated employees. Ensures daily/ weekly crew timesheet data loads into SAP payroll system and assists Brisbane-based payroll teams with various time and payroll queries. Assists in preparation of project/ functional timekeeping reports, including daily force reporting, attendance and ad-hoc reports. Ensure year-end payroll statements, paychecks, and employee pay entitlements are processed in accordance with internal payroll deadlines, and in accordance with Australian statutory regulations. May participate in training and development of future timekeeping staff, provides gap coverage to other FIFO timekeeping staff, and helps maintain the unit's standard of performance. The position requires good communication, time management skills, intermediate level spreadsheet analysis, and basic to intermediate experience with payroll/ timekeeping systems.This position reports directly to the Lead Timekeeper and project deployed accounting supervisor. The role interfaces daily with craft employees, timekeepers, project accounting, labor relations personnel, payroll shared services department, IS&T support personnel, craft leading hands, superintendents, and foremen with regard to SAP timekeeping and payroll system operations, daily time charges, and payroll calculation queries.
This role operates on a 2:1 roster in Cloncurry, QLD
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordination with Workforce Services to ensure prompt input of all required payroll information for Craft Professionals into project timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Data entry including but not limited to new hire information, terminations, rate and classification changes, etc.
- Onboarding of project new hires to include badging for all site personnel.
- Verification of daily craft attendance using the project electronic timekeeping system (eTrack).
- Review, balancing (reconciliation) and exporting of daily time records for craft employees.
- Replacement badging and time clock maintenance/troubleshooting.
- Creation and distribution of daily/weekly reporting such as force report, attendance infractions, timesheet completion, etc.
- Sorting, validation and distribution of weekly craft payroll checks/direct deposit slips.
- Processing of requests for time off and daily call-ins for craft employees.
- Maintenance of craft employee files to include scanning for records retention.
- Crew timesheet maintenance as directed by construction supervision.
- Gate watch (badge scanning) for personnel at the project site.
- Providing payroll-related customer service to craft professionals.
- Any other related activities as assigned by the Timekeeping Supervisor or Project Finance and Accounting Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with timekeeping and payroll processes, procedures, and technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with a strong ethical behavior in workplace practices.
- Customer-service oriented with a demonstrated professional demeanor and communication style
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Etrack timekeeping and payroll systems, or equivalent application
- Experience working on large FIFO-type construction projects
