QIC's Infrastructure team manages ~A$42 billion in global unlisted infrastructure assets and continues to grow its portfolio across Energy & Utilities, Transport, and Social Infrastructure. We are seeking an Associate to join our Energy & Utilities team, supporting both origination and asset management activities across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

This role offers broad exposure across the full investment lifecycle. You will support the origination and execution of new investments, alongside the active management of existing portfolio companies.

Working across key energy transition themes including renewables, transmission and distribution, gas, and digital infrastructure-you will partner closely with senior investment professionals, gaining meaningful responsibility and exposure to complex transactions and portfolio initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial modelling, valuation, and scenario analysis

  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence and investment papers

  • Assist with asset management activities such as board materials, reporting, and stakeholder engagement

  • Interpret financial outputs and apply commercial judgement to inform investment decisions

  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, advisors, and industry participants

  • Contribute to sector research and pipeline development

About You

You will have strong technical foundations, coupled with the ability to think commercially beyond the numbers.

  • 3-5 years' experience in infrastructure advisory (e.g. investment banking) or principal investing
  • Background in financial, commercial, or operational roles
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Business, or Finance

Skills:

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capability

  • Understanding of M&A processes and investment due diligence

  • Ability to prepare clear, structured investment recommendations and board materials

  • Commercial acumen and strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work both autonomously and collaboratively

  • Advanced Excel skills; proficient in Word and PowerPoint
