As part of the team, we are seeking a Design Manager who, in consultation with the Project Director and the broader Design Team, will lead and manage the facade design process. The Design Manager - Facades will ensure successful delivery aligned with project objectives, compliance requirements, and commercial outcomes.

Key Task

  • Lead the facade design development from concept through to construction, ensuring alignment with project scope, programme, budget, and contractual obligations.

  • Manage and coordinate facade consultants, specialist designers, and subcontractors in the preparation and delivery of detailed design documentation, ensuring buildability, integration, and timely release for procurement and construction.

  • Drive resolution of design discrepancies, clashes, and technical issues related to facade systems, ensuring coordination with structural, architectural, and building services disciplines.
    Oversee compliance with Australian standards and regulations, including NCC (National Construction Code), relevant Australian Standards (AS), and facade performance requirements (weatherproofing, thermal, acoustic, fire, etc.).

  • Act as the key interface between Design and Delivery Teams, ensuring clear communication of facade design intent, risks, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead facade-focused design reviews, workshops, and value engineering processes, promoting innovation while maintaining design integrity, performance, and cost efficiency.

  • Coordinate mock-ups, testing regimes (e.g. performance testing), and site inspections to validate facade design outcomes and quality standards.

  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to internal teams and stakeholders on facade systems, materials, and construction methodologies.

  • Ensure high-quality aesthetic, technical, and performance outcomes in line with architectural intent and client expectations.

  • Manage design deliverables, programme milestones, and approvals associated with facade packages.

Skills and Experience

Proven at least 5 years of experience as a Design Manager in a similar role.

Relevant qualification in Architecture.

Spanish language skills highly regarded (but not mandatory).
