About the Opportunity

Cessnock Hospital is seeking compassionate and motivated Assistants in Nursing to join our casual workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience across a variety of clinical settings, supporting patients in both our inpatient wards and, at times, as an additional support resource within the Emergency Department. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while building valuable healthcare experience. Whether you are looking to further develop your skills or begin your healthcare career, you'll be supported through a comprehensive orientation program and guidance from our Clinical Nurse Educator.

What You Will Be Doing

As an Assistant in Nursing, you will work under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager, After-Hours Nurse Manager, or Nurse in Charge to support patients with their day-to-day care needs. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, monitoring and recording clinical observations, supporting meal preparation and supervision, and helping create a safe, comfortable and positive environment for patients. Working within your scope of practice, you will contribute to the delivery of person-centred care while supporting nursing staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

Essential requirements:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing), or
  • Current enrolment in an undergraduate Nursing degree (completed first year and at least first semester/trimester of second year), or
  • Current enrolment in a TAFE NSW Diploma of Nursing (completed foundational units in practice and minimum 120 hours of clinical placement).

Additional Information

To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
