Our Community Mental Health (CMH) Team is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where staff are empowered to thrive.

Achieve Something Great
Be part of a transformative, district-wide initiative dedicated to reducing suicide and strengthening support for individuals, families, and communities across South Western Sydney.

The Towards Zero Suicides (TZS) Service offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful, life-changing work, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care grounded in recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice. In this role, you'll make a tangible difference by supporting people at some of their most vulnerable moments, while helping shape a more connected and responsive mental health system.

Working within a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll be empowered to bring your expertise, initiative, and passion for mental health to a collaborative environment that truly values innovation and clinical excellence.

This position involves evening and weekend shifts, typically Friday to Monday (11:30am - 8:00pm), with an additional shift on Thursday (8:30am - 5:00pm). Applicable penalty rates apply.

You'll also benefit from a strong commitment to your professional growth, including access to the Foundations of Community Mental Health program, along with a range of employee benefits such as salary packaging, novated leasing, and Fitness Passport. This is your opportunity to be part of a progressive, state-wide reform agenda focused on improving mental health outcomes across NSW.

As a pool clinician, you'll begin by supporting one of our teams to fill a current vacancy. As new opportunities arise across our mental health services, you may be offered the chance to transition to other teams-providing you with valuable experience and exposure across the diverse services within SWSLHD Community Mental Health. Future roles may become available at Ingleburn, Bankstown, Campbelltown, Ambarvale, Liverpool, Fairfield, and Wollondilly.

Are You the Right Fit?

  • You are a compassionate, motivated, and skilled mental health professional who is deeply committed to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.
  • You bring experience in comprehensive assessment, collaborative care planning, and delivery of evidence-based interventions, alongside demonstrated experience in community outreach and engagement, supporting individuals in both clinical and community settings.
  • You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing positively to team culture while maintaining a high standard of clinical practice.
  • Your ability to build strong, trusting relationships with consumers, families, and stakeholders underpins your work. You are confident in coordinating care and managing complex presentations, with a sound understanding of mental health legislation, including the NSW Mental Health Act (2007), and a commitment to ethical, person-centred practice.
  • Highly organised and resilient, you contribute to continuous quality improvement, maintain accurate and timely documentation, and are driven by a genuine desire to make a lasting impact in suicide prevention and mental health care.

  • Using a specific example, describe a time you worked collaboratively as part of a team to address a complex problem. Outline the communication strategies you used, your contribution to the outcome, and the steps taken to ensure the issue was resolved and prevented from recurring.
