Fyfe is expanding its planning and approvals capability in Victoria and is seeking an experienced Impact Assessment Lead to help drive this growth.
About the Role
As Impact Assessment Lead, you will play a key role within Fyfe's Victorian planning and approvals team, helping to grow our planning capability and strengthen our presence in the Victorian market.
The role will primarily focus on major infrastructure and renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, transmission and data centre developments. We are looking for someone who has experience navigating complex planning and approvals processes and can provide strategic advice to clients across a range of project types.
In addition to strong technical planning expertise, you will bring commercial awareness, an ability to build client relationships, and a desire to contribute to the growth of the business.
What You'll Do
- Lead Fyfe's impact assessment and planning approvals services across Victoria, with a focus on infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
- Support the growth of the Victorian planning team through hiring, mentoring, coaching and capability development.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, councils, government agencies and referral authorities.
- Provide strategic advice on planning approvals pathways, planning scheme amendments, Environmental Effects Statement (EES) processes and other regulatory matters.
- Lead or oversee planning inputs on major projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Contribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals and supporting project wins.
- Stay informed on planning reforms and policy changes relevant to Victoria and the sectors in which we operate.
About You
You are an experienced planning professional looking for an opportunity to take on a leadership role and help shape the future direction of a growing team.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience in town planning, impact assessment or development approvals, ideally within a consulting environment.
- Experience working on major infrastructure and/or renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of Victorian planning legislation, planning schemes and approval processes.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of client and project needs.
- The ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and represent the business professionally.
- Experience in growing, mentoring, and supporting planning teams.
- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning or a related discipline. PIA membership will be highly regarded.
