Senior Legal Counsel
Axiom, the leading provider of ondemand legal talent globally, is seeking a senior construction and energy lawyer to support a major international energy and infrastructure organisation on a parttime secondment based in Sydney. This is a highly visible role working closely with the General Counsel and commercial leadership on contract drafting and negotiation, procurement processes, regulatory compliance and operational legal support across complex projects. The opportunity would suit an experienced commercial or construction lawyer who enjoys operating in a businessfacing environment with significant stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence project outcomes within a fastpaced, highly regulated sector.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal support on construction, infrastructure, energy and commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
Advise on procurement, tendering, and multijurisdictional project documentation to support ongoing operational needs.
Manage stakeholder engagement with internal teams, external partners, and project leads to ensure alignment on legal risk and commercial objectives.
Ensure compliance oversight across regulatory, contractual and corporate governance requirements relevant to the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Support dispute resolution by identifying risks early, preparing documentation, and coordinating with external counsel where required.
Requirements:
Construction or energy law expertise with demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial, procurement or project agreements.
Stakeholder advisory experience providing clear, practical legal guidance to business teams, project managers and senior leadership.
Regulatory and compliance knowledge relevant to infrastructure, energy, procurement or largescale commercial operations.
Matter and workflow management capability including the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and manage multiple active matters efficiently.
