What you'll be doing

Work within a team environment to maintain the highest standard of support necessary to facilitate the care and movement of patients within the Perioperative services in a reliable, timely and effective manner.

To ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas of the Operating Suite, Recovery ward, Middleton and CSSD.

To assist within the Operating Rooms with patient care and positioning as directed by Registered Nurse, Surgeon or Anaesthetist.

  1. Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, and ability to relate well and communicate respectfully to line management, colleagues and members of the public.
  2. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, supporting others and taking directions from supervisors or other staff as appropriate.
  3. Demonstrated previous portering and cleaning experience in a hospital setting.
  4. Ability to perform the physical demands of this position, such as push, or pull mobile waste bins, patient beds and trolleys frequently.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of infection control standards, willing to clean room/areas that have been occupied by patients with possible or confirmed infections.
  6. Ability to prioritise and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  7. Ability and willingness to work shifts, on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
