About the role

We are looking for a Facilities Engineering Specialist, to join our team at our North Ryde Data Centre. This is a permanent role on a salary, including benefits associated with shift work.

This role is working within a rostered shift pattern, the team provides 24x7 coverage. Shift work onsite will consist of:

  • 4 x 12-hour shifts, a mix of days and nights followed by 4 days off.
  • 20% Shift allowance on top of TRP.
  • Overtime available.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee data centre security, including physical and access procedures, IT infrastructure, Data Centre Plant and Equipment maintenance / activities.
  • Identify faults and issues with data centre environment and address where possible. Escalating to relevant vendors or internal teams as required.
  • Assisting with regular and ad hoc maintenance, efficiency and reliability of a large and technically complex data centre facility.
  • Leading and coordinating Incident management and supporting procedure reviews.
  • Assist with preparing monthly reporting, related to the data hall environmental conditions, power usage and SLA adherence.
  • Managing risk management around the DC and assess all WHS associated with the centre.
  • Engage with risk management. Identify, assess and address WHS hazards and incidents around the facility.
  • Liaise with clients and service providers as required during the coordination of facility maintenance.
  • Undertake customer remote hands, cross connections & remote console sessions.
  • Interaction with carriers and service delivery.
  • Subcontractor management and supervision including maintenance, repair and new installations as required on a 24x7 basis.
  • Ensure Fujitsu Data Centre National Access Procedure are always followed.

Requirements and Experience

Come and be part of a close-knit team in North Ryde reporting to the Data Centre Manager & Facilities Engineering Manager. This role has a huge variety of tasks and no two days will be the same!

To hit the ground running we are ideally looking for someone with:

  • Electrical, Mechanical, BMS qualifications preferred, but not essential.
  • 2 years previous experience working within a data centre or similar environment.
  • Understanding of structured cabling systems and cross connections.
  • Able to work independently and troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Experience in operational efficiencies and operational process creation and reviews.
  • Excellent customer service, communication skills and a 'can do' attitude.
  • Willing to learn new skills in a dynamic environment and ever-changing environment.
  • Experience with MS 365 environments including excel, word, SharePoint.
  • Awareness of WHS principles.
  • Open cable license favourable.
