The Role As a City Safety Officer within the Public Amenity and Safety team, you will operate at the intersection of community safety, homelessness engagement, and compliance. This role involves working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness-such as those residing in park encampments-while collaborating closely with stakeholders including Queensland Housing, Queensland Health and QPS to achieve fair, compassionate, and practical outcomes. You will play a key role in balancing public access to shared spaces with the need to support vulnerable members of the community. In this varied position, you will undertake investigative and compliance activities relating to community safety concerns, applying relevant State Government legislation and Local Laws. Your work will include gathering evidence, conducting interviews, obtaining statements, and assessing each situation on its merits. A strong emphasis is placed on ensuring individuals are given appropriate opportunities and support before enforcement action is considered, with outcomes achieved through education, mediation, and, where necessary, compliance measures to prevent reoccurrence.
