We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join the AOP Finance team. This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic business decisions.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic business decisions through timely reporting and insightful financial analysis
So, what goes into making that happen?
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Lead the month-end and year end close process (including close of sub-ledgers, inventory, accruals, prepayments, lease schedules) in accordance with reporting deadlines
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger and oversee balance sheet reconciliations
- Support preparation of tax filings including income tax returns, payroll tax, BAS and FBT returns
- Prepare quarterly intercompany reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory obligations, and internal policies
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
Financial Analysis and Business Support:
- Deliver detailed financial analysis and variance reporting to support management decision-making
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes as required
- Provide insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies
- Contribute to system enhancements and finance transformation initiatives
- Assist in implementing and monitoring internal controls in accordance with the group's policies and local statutory requirements.
- Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures that reflect best practice.

That's enough about us! Here's what we hope to see from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in financial accounting or a similar senior finance role
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS/AASB accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Experience working with SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Prior experience within a medium-to-large corporate environment preferred
- Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of the team in a busy environment
- Experience working within complex or fast-paced business environments preferred
- Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and commercial drivers
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
