Consultant - Energy Markets

Baringa
Sydney, Australia Full Time
Reference: 102_714838_4884224101

Our Market Fundamentals and Transactions (MFT) practice is looking for a Consultant to join the team.

As a member of the MFT team, you will build deep quantitative insights into how power market fundamentals, such as trends in electricity demand, supply, and technology costs, impact the value of projects and companies in the markets in which we operate. We provide a long-term and independent view of power markets, which is used by a broad range of market participants. The quality and depth of the insight, and our ability to translate our work into client context and challenges means we are a trusted advisor to the players making the biggest impact on the energy transition, and our analysis is used to deploy billions of dollars of capital per year.

What you will be doing

  • Undertaking and leading the end-to-end market modelling process on Client projects, from designing modelling inputs to running the models and quality-checking the results, and then to preparing Client deliverables to Baringa's standards of quality and timeliness.
  • Outputs of the modelling include key metrics of projects' financial viability, namely prices and revenues, which feed into early-stage feasibility assessments as well as advanced-stage assessments such as buy- and sell-side transactions processes.
  • Suggest model and process enhancements in the spirit of continuous improvement, as you increasingly gain on-the-job experience and become more adept at using our modelling toolkit.

Your skills and experience

  • You hold energy sector experience in market modeling
  • You hold experience working in a consulting environment
  • You are passionate about energy and energy decarbonisation.
  • You are comfortable in handling data and numerical analysis.
  • You have demonstrated aptitude and appetite for using analysis to solve client problems, and clarity in explaining methods and concepts.
  • You are personable and professional, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • You are an effective team player.
