About the Team:

We are the team who teach students to work amongst the most vulnerable in our communities.

We teach students to support the homeless, people with mental health issues, young people who may not live at home or have other issues specific to their age, people with drug and alcohol dependency, people living in family violence situations and we teach students to develop community programs to support all pockets of society.

About the Role:

You will be working in a highly supportive and flexible working environment and provide highquality teaching practices and assessment across Community Services programs at VU TAFE. You will customise learnercentred training and assessment, support student progression, and maintain compliance with ASQA, VRQA and HESG requirements.

You will also work closely with industry partners and internal stakeholders, you will manage continuous improvement, industryinformed practice, and a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Position Key Duties

  • Planning, preparing and delivering of the lesson plan and assessment of student performance and learning activities in accordance with the departments assessment tools
  • Fostering a working environment that is respectful to all students and staff
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Monitoring student progression and attendance throughout their learning journey
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement for the course by being involved with the design, development and validation of its training and assessment resources.
  • Maintaining accurate course and student records according to organisational and regulatory requirements

  • Classification: VT3-VT5
  • Salary: $93,058 - $117, 998 per annum
  • Employment Type: Continuing
  • Hours per Week: 38 (1.0 FTE)
  • Location: Footscray Nicholson campus

About You:

The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about community services education and committed to sharing their extensive practical knowledge with others. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the community services sector, a commitment to the development of future professionals, and a drive to continuously improve educational practices.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Completed a TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 with upgrade units TAELLN411 and TAEASS502
  • Hold a relevant vocational/industry qualification at the level of the courses or above and have teaching experience either in a TAFE or an RTO
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check
  • A minimum of 5 years in industry to be able to bring your knowledge and experience to the classroom and the ability to display industry currency
  • Relevant skills in Microsoft office, databases and record keeping
  • Current police check valid within 6 months or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience in an adult education setting desirable. Your excellent communication skills will be a key asset, along with your willingness to continually learn and develop as a professional trainer and assessor
