The School of Education (Fremantle and Sydney) offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including initial teacher education for early childhood, primary and secondary teachers, and postgraduate programs in early childhood, leadership and management, curriculum, special learning needs and religious education.
About the role
The School of Education is seeking an Associate Lecturer, Educational Psychology to contribute to high-quality teaching, research, and scholarly activity across its Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programs.
This fixed-term appointment (2 years) will focus on the delivery and development of Educational Psychology subjects, supporting pre-service teachers to develop a strong understanding of learning, development, motivation, and classroom practice. The successful applicant will also contribute to curriculum enhancement, research activity, and collaborative partnerships within the School, Faculty, University, and broader education sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and delivering engaging learning experiences across small and large group settings, integrating contemporary pedagogical approaches and e-learning technologies, and contributing to assessment design and moderation.
- Contribute to research and scholarship in Education, with opportunities to build or extend a research profile, publish in peer-reviewed outlets, and engage in collaborative projects Prepare and deliver curriculum content aligned with disciplinary and professional expertise.
- Foster productive relationships with colleagues across disciplines and engage with schools and professional partners to ensure strong alignment between theory and practice.
- Assess student work and provide constructive, timely feedback using approved assessment methods.
- Use digital learning tools and technologies to support effective teaching and student engagement.
- Undertake teaching-related administrative duties, including possible supervised course coordination responsibilities.
- Participate in meetings, committees, training, and professional development activities to enhance teaching practice and maintain discipline knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with senior academic staff while demonstrating professionalism and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Qualifications, skills & experience
A level A Academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, particularly at undergraduate and graduate diploma level and to carry out activities to develop their scholarly and professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline
- A level A Academic Staff Member will normally have completed four years of tertiary study in the Relevant discipline and/or have equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience. In many cases a position at this level will require an honours degree or higher qualifications, an extended
- A PhD or EdD in Education or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in high-quality tertiary teaching, including small and large group facilitation and contemporary curriculum design, delivery, and assessment, including e-learning approaches.
- Experience in developing or contributing to Educational Psychology curriculum within Primary and/or Secondary education contexts aligned with teacher and leader development.
- Evidence of emerging or established research activity, including progression from research inception through to publication in high-quality outlets.
- Capacity for, or experience in, supervising Honours and/or higher degree research students.
- Experience in, or demonstrated capacity for, collaboration with the teaching profession and community or sector partners.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Criteria
Applicants who also demonstrate the following will be highly regarded:
- Experience teaching within Initial Teacher Education programs in higher education contexts.
- Experience with blended, online, or digitally enhanced learning and assessment design.
- Evidence of engagement with school partnerships, professional learning, or applied education settings.
