Senior Optimization Software Engineer

You will design and implement algorithms that improve how electricity is generated, stored, and dispatched across complex and evolving power markets. Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement optimization, forecasting, and control algorithms to maximize the performance of battery storage and renewable energy assets.
- Own algorithmic performance across deployed energy projects, ensuring continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Design and refine mixed-integer linear and nonlinear optimization models to solve high-dimensional, real-world energy system problems.
- Act as a subject matter expert on electricity market rules, staying current with wholesale market developments and regulatory changes.
- Analyze energy market data and asset performance to identify opportunities for product improvements and new algorithmic approaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate technical insights into scalable, production-ready solutions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience building mixed-integer linear and/or nonlinear optimization models for complex real-world systems.
- Strong understanding of energy systems, including electricity markets, batteries, renewable energy, virtual power plants, or related domains.
- Proficiency in Python with strong software engineering practices and production-level development experience.
- Solid mathematical foundation with expertise in operations research, optimization, or related quantitative fields.
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and a results-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Experience with tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern agile development workflows (strong plus).
- Familiarity with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL (strong plus).
- Experience with data visualization or analytics dashboards (strong plus).
- PhD in a quantitative field such as operations research, computer science, electrical engineering, economics, or statistics is a plus.
