About the Role

This role sits within a specialist sustainability function and plays a key role in shaping and delivering environmental performance across a diversified real estate portfolio.

Working closely with investment, asset management and operations teams, the position combines technical sustainability expertise with strong commercial acumen-ensuring environmental initiatives are practical, measurable and aligned to investor outcomes.

The focus is on execution-leading ESG programs across the asset portfolio, embedding robust data and reporting frameworks, and identifying opportunities to enhance performance, efficiency and resilience across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives aligned to portfolio ESG strategy and investment objectives
  • Manage ESG data, reporting and assurance processes, ensuring accuracy, auditability and alignment with frameworks such as GRESB, NABERS, Green Star and NGERS
  • Drive asset-level environmental performance improvements across energy, water, waste and carbon reduction initiatives
  • Support delivery of net zero targets, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction pathways
  • Partner with asset management and operations teams to embed practical, commercially viable ESG solutions across assets
  • Analyse environmental and climate-related risks and opportunities, including resilience and adaptation planning
  • Contribute to investor and other stakeholder reporting, articulating ESG performance and initiatives in a clear, commercially meaningful way
  • Identify and implement innovative, technology-enabled solutions to improve sustainability performance and operational efficiency
  • Engage, influence and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive outcomes

About You

You bring a highly analytical, technically strong approach to ESG, with a clear understanding of how environmental initiatives support investment performance.

With experience gained in-house within complex organisations-ideally across property operations, construction, retail or real assets-you are comfortable operating at the intersection of data, operations and strategy.

You are hands-on, execution-focused and commercially minded, with the ability to move beyond strategy into delivery-bringing ideas to life at an asset and portfolio level while maintaining a strong focus on client and investor outcomes.

You are equally comfortable working through detailed sustainability data and reporting requirements as you are engaging with stakeholders to influence decisions and drive change.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in an in-house sustainability or environmental role within real estate, property operations, construction, retail or similar asset classes
  • Strong technical capability across sustainability data, reporting and performance measurement, with experience in relevant frameworks and benchmarks
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver environmental sustainability initiatives at an operational level, translating strategy into tangible outcomes
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex datasets and reporting requirements
  • Commercial mindset with an understanding of sustainability through an investment and performance lens
  • Experience working with asset, operations or facilities teams to drive environmental improvements
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across multiple levels of an organisation
  • Proven track record of managing competing priorities and delivering to tight timeframes
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, sustainability or a related discipline
