What you'll be doing

As a Visiting Medical Officer in Psychiatry, you will deliver flexible, high-quality mental health care across various settings within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Working under the direction of the Clinical Director, your responsibilities may include inpatient psychiatry, community clinics, and consultation liaison services, negotiated on a shift-by-shift basis.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and provide care within the scope of practice approved by the LHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee, contributing to a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement.

Selection Criteria

1. Evidence of a Medical qualification that is registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.

2. Evidence of a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

3. Demonstrated evidence of Membership with RANZCP as well as accredited RANZCP supervisor.

4. Demonstrated significant experience in the field of Psychiatry and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.

5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team.

6. Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to area of practice and a willingness to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster.

7. Willingness to teach medical students and other staff of the hospital when reasonably requested with demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement and peer review, equal employment opportunity and Occupational Health Safety and Rehabilitation.
