An opportunity exists for an experienced social worker to join the specialist paediatric chronic pain team at Sydney Children's Hospital. The Paediatric Chronic Pain Service is a highly respected, specialist service, recognised for its leadership in the paediatric pain management. The social worker works closely with the multidisciplinary team and has a key role in work with parents/primary carers and family. The social worker will receive orientation and training to the service's established model of care which is evidence.
The social worker is well supported by the MDT and the social work department, with extensive professional development opportunities, training and clinical supervision. As a senior role, the social worker will be required to participate and lead quality initiatives, research and clinical supervision. What you'll be doing
The senior social work is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both social workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The social worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders.

Responses to the questions below:
- Eligibility for AASW membership with significant post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
- Substantial post graduate experience in social work practice with children and their families.
- A well-developed knowledge of the psycho-social challenges facing families in the relevant clinical area and a sound knowledge of relevant community resources and support services available to the children and families.
- Significant post graduate experience in a variety of social work interventions/modalities including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling, group work.
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, professional education activities, service planning, and quality improvement activities.
- Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.
- Capacity to share after hours and weekend on call duties - as required.
