About The Project
Sydney Metro West is a transformational 24 km underground railway connecting Sydney CBD to Parramatta, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street.
The Linewide package connects the entire system, delivering the critical rail infrastructure and technology that bring the metro network to life.
Project offices are located across several Sydney locations including the CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays and Burwood North.
About The Role:
We are currently seeking an experience Project Engineer - Hydraulics and Ventilation to join out Temporary Services team on the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project. You will support the planning, coordination, and installation of key mechanical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, design review, and delivery of mechanical works across tunnelling scope.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for constructability and compliance
- Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and construction teams to ensure efficient execution of mechanical works
- Monitor installation progress, quality, and compliance with project specifications and Australian Standards
- Supporting operation of systems
- Manage system interfaces with other stakeholders
- Identify risks, technical issues, and interface challenges, and implement solutions in coordination with senior engineers and construction leadership
- Support commissioning, testing, and operation of mechanical systems
- Prepare progress reports, documentation, and technical records for mechanical works
- Participate in safety inspections, toolbox meetings, and ensure compliance with WHS requirements
About You:
- Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years' experience delivering mechanical works on major infrastructure or tunnelling projects
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, ventilation, pump stations, HVAC, mechanical plant, and tunnel service systems
- Knowledge of tunnel dewatering systems (sump pumps, rising mains, float switches, level sensors)
- Knowledge of ventilation system installation and operations (fans, VSDs)
- Experience coordinating construction teams and subcontractors
- Ability to read, interpret, and review mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills with focus on safety, quality, and schedule
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
