About The Opportunity
Programmed's Facility Management division is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our growing team specialising in generator maintenance, servicing, and repairs across critical infrastructure, commercial, and industrial sites for our Western Region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated tradesperson with experience in diesel generators, industrial engines, standby power systems, or similar heavy mechanical environments. Working within a highly skilled team, you will be responsible for ensuring critical backup power systems remain reliable, compliant, and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of diesel generators and associated equipment
- Conduct engine diagnostics, fault finding, and mechanical repairs
- Maintain cooling, fuel, lubrication, and exhaust systems
- Assist with generator commissioning and load bank testing activities
- Respond to breakdowns and provide troubleshooting support across client sites
- Complete maintenance documentation, service reports, and compliance records
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including completion of TRAs, SWMS, and LOTO requirements
- Participate in on-call and emergency response activities as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Mechanical Technician with a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service. Additionally, you will have:
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Diesel Fitting, Mobile Plant Technology, or similar trade qualification
- Experience servicing generators, diesel engines, standby power systems, or related equipment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
- Experience working independently and within a team environment
- Current driver's licence
- Strong written communication skills and experience completing detailed service reports
- Experience completing TRAs, LOTO procedures, and SWMS documentation
Highly Regarded
- Experience with major generator brands including CAT, Cummins, Deutz, Kohler, FG Wilson, or MWM
- Industrial maintenance or field service experience
- HR Licence, Forklift Licence, EWP Ticket, or other relevant industry certifications
