As a Principal Engineer - ITS & Electrical, you will play a critical leadership role in delivering Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions across major infrastructure projects in Queensland and nationally.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a technically challenging and highly visible role, working at the intersection of digital infrastructure, transport innovation, and complex project delivery.

What you'll do
You will lead the technical delivery of ITS and electrical designs across major projects, bringing deep expertise and strategic insight to ensure exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Key responsibilities include:

Technical Leadership

• Lead and oversee the design, review and verification of ITS solutions
• Provide discipline leadership across ITS design, quality, and delivery
• Ensure alignment with Australian standards, RPEQ requirements, and WSP best practice
• Manage complex, multi-disciplinary project delivery across multiple engagements

Project Excellence & Client Engagement

• Partner closely with project directors and client teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Build strong, trusted relationships across clients, contractors, and alliance partners
• Contribute to innovative, best-for-project solutions across smart motorways, signals, and enforcement systems

Business Growth

• Drive strategic pursuits and contribute to pipeline development across ITS, lighting and signals
• Support winning work and expanding partnerships across the transport sector
• Represent WSP in industry forums and help elevate our market presence

People & Capability

• Mentor and develop emerging talent within the ITS team
  Foster a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive team culture
  Support sustainable resourcing and capability growth aligned to future demand

Strategic Contribution

• Contribute to business planning and help define future capability needs
  Identify growth opportunities and support delivery of strategic objectives

About you
You are a respected technical leader with a passion for delivering innovative infrastructure solutions and building high-performing teams.
You will bring:

• A degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
• Chartered status (CPEng / RPEQ or equivalent)
• Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in ITS and electrical design within Australia
• Strong knowledge of communications, network operations, and smart transport systems
• Demonstrated capability in leading technical delivery across complex, large-scale projects
• A proven track record in client engagement, business development, and winning work
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
