The role is part of the ANZ energy leadership, based in Sydney. The primary focus of the role is to lead the development of the Energy business and support the execution of our strategy. The priority is to lead the continued growth and development of the Arup Energy practice within New South Wales in the first instance, and support across ANZ more broadly.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the National Electricity System, a well developed network of connections in the transmission and distribution sector, and highly capable in a business development environment. Success will be the development of a diverse service offering which differentiates Arup in the marketplace and serves to attract and retain the best talent.
The Opportunity:
- Lead the purposeful growth of the energy business in NSW with a focus on transmission and distribution
- Maintain existing strong client relationships and establish new connections that underpin the growth of the Arup brand and offering
- Originate and secure a future pipeline of work and negotiate major contracts that align with Arup core capabilities.
- Represent Arup at a senior level at industry and client events regionally and nationally.
- Providing a vision for the development of Arup's capabilities in energy and setting priorities for investment, research and other network activities.

Is this role right for you?
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Strong industry experience in the energy sector with a focus on transmission and distribution
- Excellent network of connections in the energy sector
- Relevant industry project experience within a consulting or government business environment.
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership.
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines - and related procedures including OH&S.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (including formal and informal presentations, written communications and reports).
- A keen sense of maintaining high standards.
- Creative, innovative and able to deliver solutions within constraints of project budget.
- Keen understanding of "customer" needs (both internal and external), and the issues which may impact on maintaining effectiveness within a commercial environment
