About us

We are a diverse group including biostatisticians, data scientists, epidemiologists and project managers in the System Monitoring and Insights (SMI) team of System Information and Analytics (SIA) branch of the NSW Ministry of Health, based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards. The SMI team is responsible for the collection, analysis and reporting of data and information that informs the evaluation of key strategic bodies of work.

About the role

The primary purpose of the Business Intelligence Developer is to develop and maintain operational reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI to support decision making and monitoring health programs. This includes providing input into effort estimates for design, development and testing of the dashboards and reporting any issues or risks that may impact the timely delivery and/or quality of the developed solutions to the manager.


About you

You are motivated and committed individual who will support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack including Power Query, Power BI, DAX and the knowledge of security groups and how to implement Row Level Security on the data.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure, Devops and ETL process.
  • Strong technicals in developing data models using STAR or Snowflake Schemas by creating FACT and Dimension Tables.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills with the ability to document complex issues in a simple manner for clinical, data and IT stakeholders to understand.
