Perfectly positioned in the heart of Darling Harbour, the hotel blends its 1888 industrial heritage with modern design, pop-art influences, and a warm, story-driven guest experience.

Originally built as one of Sydney's historic wool stores, this beautifully restored five-storey sandstone and brick building now features 90 individually designed guestrooms, a celebrated neighbourhood restaurant and bar, and flexible event spaces that attract both local and international guests.

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and service-driven Duty Manager to join our Front Office leadership team at Hotel Woolstore 1888.

This part-time role offers a dynamic mix of front office operations and reservations responsibilities - ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-first environment. You will be a key leader on shift, ensuring smooth daily operations while supporting the team to deliver exceptional guest experiences from reservation through to departure.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead daily hotel operations as shift leader, ensuring seamless service across all guest touchpoints
  • Support, coach, and guide the Front Office team to consistently deliver high standards of hospitality
  • Manage guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism and care
  • Oversee reservations, ensuring accuracy and supporting revenue performance
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across all departments
  • Contribute to a positive, engaged, and supportive team culture
  • Assist with rostering, operational planning, and ongoing team development
  • Provide flexible support across departments as required to ensure smooth hotel-wide operations

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • 2-4 years' experience in hotel operations with proven leadership capability
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport at all levels
  • A calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of hotel systems (Opera Cloud or similar PMS preferred)
  • Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
