The Branch works across planning, partnerships and service delivery to enable inclusive access to sport and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Through collaboration with community organisations, clubs and internal stakeholders, the team helps create welcoming places and programs that encourage participation, wellbeing and social connection, while supporting the sustainable use of Council's sport and recreation assets. The Role Are you passionate about community development, stakeholder engagement and making a real impact at a local level? We are seeking a dynamic Sport and Community Officer to help support and strengthen our network of community and sporting facilities across the city. This is a highly engaging, relationship-driven role where no two days are the same-you'll work at the heart of the community, partnering and maintaining strong relationships with community groups and clubs, volunteers, sporting bodies and internal stakeholders to create thriving, accessible and sustainable spaces while facilitating discussions to resolve competing demands, shared-use challenges and sensitive community issues. In this role, you will manage lease and licence arrangements across a diverse portfolio of community organisations, acting as the primary point of contact for all site-related enquiries and ensuring compliance with Council policies and agreements. You will also contribute to the delivery of community facility projects and strategic initiatives, including grant programs, funding applications and infrastructure planning. Alongside this, you will manage complex matters, providing balanced, well-informed advice that considers policy, legal obligations, community expectations and risk. What are we looking for? You bring: You will bring: well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate with people at all levels with community development or asset/facility management experience highly developed communication skills with an ability to navigate complex issues with confidence and professionalism strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment sound understanding of governance, compliance or lease management a passion for delivering positive outcomes for communities.
