The Opportunity

We're seeking an Engineering Manager - BESS & Electrical Systems to join Power & Energy group supporting our rapidly growing renewables portfolio across Australia.

Reporting to the Director - Renewables, this leadership role can be based in any of WSP's east coast offices, offering flexibility to work where you're most effective, within a hybrid working model.

You'll lead a high-performing national team delivering complex BESS and electrical engineering projects, supporting renewable energy clients across the full lifecycle-from development through to delivery. This role also plays a key part in driving business growth and strengthening client relationships across the renewables sector.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers developing and delivering BESS projects and electrical systems for other renewable energy projects across Australia
  • Drive the successful delivery of Owner's Engineer (OE), Technical Due Diligence (TDD), electrical design and advisory services
  • Identify, pursue and secure new opportunities, strengthening WSP's position in the energy transition market
  • Oversee bid preparation and submissions, ensuring clear value propositions and high win rates
  • Act as Project Director on major projects or portfolios
  • Manage team resourcing, performance and development
  • Deliver against financial targets and contribute to broader business strategy

About You

  • A recognised Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia is a plus
  • 10+ years' experience in the power industry with BESS and HV experience, ideally operating at an Associate level or above within an engineering consulting environment
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams in renewables and BESS
  • Familiarity with OE, TDD and design engagements
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience supporting or leading business development activities
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • A collaborative leader who builds strong relationships and supports team growth
