About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Dietetics' Team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. The position will provide services in our outpatient clinics and will be working alongside two other senior outpatient Dietitians. It is preferable that the successful applicant has some experience with eating disorders and Paediatrics, although for the right applicant upskilling can be arranged. The position will participate in supervision of students, level 1/2 Dietitians, and Allied Health Assistants.

Key deliverables:

  • Clinical Excellence & Patient-Centred Care - Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nutrition and dietetics services via our outpatient services, leading multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes, ensure safe and timely discharge, and uphold professional and ethical standards including Aboriginal cultural competence.

  • Documentation, Compliance & Quality Improvement - Maintain accurate documentation within KPIs and NSW Health Directives, contributing to service planning, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives and research.

  • Leadership, Supervision & Team Culture - Supervise junior dietitians, Allied Health Assistants, and students, foster a positive workplace culture, and actively contribute to MLHD Nutrition and Dietetics and Allied Health networks.

  • Professional Development & Growth - Advance personal development through ongoing education, evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, and performance reviews to continuously improve service quality.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  1. Hold a tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics with eligibility for APD status with Dietitians Australia and demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice within the relevant specialty area.

  2. Have proven experience in clinical and team leadership, staff and student supervision, and the ability to initiate, lead and evaluate quality improvement initiatives and service development.

  3. Have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate, advocate, and engage constructively across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

  4. Have strong time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands, make high-level clinical decisions daily, and drive culturally appropriate, client-centred care across the community.
