What you'll be doing

The purpose of this position is to provide highquality specialist psychiatric services to patients and their
families while continuing professional development toward Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New
Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).


The successful applicant will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive assessment
and management using a biopsychosocial and cultural framework that supports integrated mental and
physical health care. They will demonstrate sustained commitment to learning, clinical education, and
progression through RANZCP Fellowship competencies.


Over the course of training, the position holder will deliver highquality psychiatric care across the mental
health continuum, in a range of clinical settings and with individuals across the lifespan. The successful
applicant is also expected to contribute to improving mental health outcomes for Aboriginal peoples.


Entry to this role is suitable for doctors who have:


Successfully completed Stage 1 of RANZCP training (for Stage 2 roles), or
Successfully completed Stage 2 of RANZCP training (for Stage 3 roles)
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Demonstrate empathy and support for patients, with a strong patient-centric and recovery-oriented approach that is responsive to understanding patient, family and carer needs.
  3. Demonstrated ability commensurate with level of training to provide timely, fluent, and tailored written and verbal communication that adapts to the needs of a diverse audience, including patient/s, families and carers, the broader community, and colleagues.
  4. Demonstrated ability commensurate with level of training to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  5. Demonstrated ability commensurate with level of training to remain calm and act constructively especially when faced with high pressure situations, unpredictable environments, or significantly different points of view.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continually developing knowledge and clinical skills through supervision and active participation in relevant training to date.
  7. Demonstrated ability commensurate with level of training, to initiate, prioritise, consult on, and develop plans for the delivery and maintenance of high-quality patient care in a dynamic context with multiple competing priorities.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance and commitment to participation in activities that improve quality and safety.
