Batemans Bay High School has a student population of approximately 570 students located on the south coast. The school has links to the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and an Aboriginal Learning Centre to support the 150 Aboriginal students. Batemans Bay High School has 8 support classes that include two ED classes, four MC classes and an IO and IS class catering to the diverse needs of our students. We are a well resourced school in a supportive environment were students benefit from a focus on wellbeing. The building of positive relationships has enhanced educational opportunities and allows students at Batemans Bay High School to achieve educational outcomes.

Batemans Bay High School is the base school for the position of Transition Teacher Support. This position is a specialist role focused on assisting high school students with disabilities to successfully transition from school to adult life and community living. This position requires the successful candidate to work across schools to support these students.

Approval to teach Transition

Ability and willingness to travel between worksites.

Experience in supporting students with transition planning from school to post-school pathways. Include examples of how you have assisted students and families to identify appropriate educational, employment or community participation options.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, external agencies and community organisations to support positive transition outcomes for students? Provide specific examples of partnerships you have developed and their impact on student outcomes.

Understanding of curriculum pathways, vocational education opportunities and workplace learning for high school students. How have you supported students to access appropriate work experience or vocational learning opportunities aligned to their strengths and goals and what was the outcome?

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

This position is based at Batemans Bay High School.
