Due to continued growth, WSP's Water business is seeking an Asset Management Engineer to join our Asset Management and Planning (AMP) team in Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. This role offers the chance to work on high-impact projects that shape sustainable water management across Australia.

About the Team

Our national AMP team specialises in strategic, master, and detailed planning for water and sewer networks, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and related infrastructure. The team also provides strategic asset management and condition assessments services nationally.

With decades of local and global experience, we support utilities such as Urban Utilities, Gold Coast City Council, and regional SEQ clients, along with national clients including Melbourne Water, Sydney Water, and SA Water (to name a few), in understanding asset health and confidently forecasting renewals.

The team plays a pivotal role in delivering sustainable solutions-optimising water use, reducing waste, and enhancing resilience, particularly in preparation for major events such as the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

Key Responsibilities

As an Asset Management or Senior Asset Management Engineer, you will:

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic and tactical asset management plans.
  • Analyze asset condition, performance, and operational data to inform decision-making.
  • Participate in field investigations and client/site visits as required including complying with safety processes and procedures
  • Assist in the development of long-term investment profiles and renewal strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and establish risk management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide advice on asset management systems and process improvements.
  • Prepare and assist in developing clear and compelling reports, plans, and presentations.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, with eligibility for professional membership (e.g., Engineers Australia).
  • 3+ years' experience in the water industry, with asset management experience highly desirable.
  • Understanding of asset management principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO 55000) advantageous
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel) and translating insights into action.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven project management and team collaboration capabilities.
  • Experience in risk assessment, planning, and business case development is highly desirable.
